Visitor centre

Since opening its doors in April 2008, the visitor centre at Bodmin materials recycling facility has welcomed nearly 5,000 members of the Cornish public.*

At our visitor centre, we are able to show the difference that recycling can make. Through an educational journey of reducing and reusing, we arrive at recycling. This is where the story becomes really exciting and engaging for groups of all ages and interests.

The visitor centre is part of the materials recycling facility, which is where recyclable materials are handled, screened and processed before being delivered to the end user to be turned into new recycled products.

Various activities that can accompany the tour of the recycling works include:

  • Waste and recycling sorting games
  • Word searches, crosswords and quiz sheets
  • Modelling and drawing activities
  • Quizzes
  • Videos and computer game activities
  • Question and answer sessions
  • Finding out what can be made from recycled materials

Other activities can be created and adapted, and the tours modified to suit specific groups needs and requirements.

The building can accommodate 40 visitors, with groups of 20 people per tour. It is equipped with welfare facilities, including disabled toilets and lift access. Travel assistance can be provided for group visits.

If you would like to arrange a tour for your group or school group, please contact our helpdesk.
