Scorrier RTS & HWRC

SITA Cornwall is proposing to develop a new waste management facility on land off Radnor Road, Scorrier, Redruth, Cornwall.

The proposed facility will manage approximately 100,000 tonnes of waste per year and comprises:-

  • A Refuse Transfer Station (RTS) to handle approximately 85,000 tonnes per year of household waste delivered by Waste Collection Authorities (Kerrier District Council & Carrick District Council) as well as some commercial waste from shops / offices / businesses; and
  • A Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) to handle approximately 15,000 tonnes per year of recyclable and non-recyclable bulky household wastes deposited by members of the public.

The proposed new facility is designed to replace the existing waste management facilities at United Mines, St Day.

Pre-planning exhibition

We held a pre-planning exhibition in May 2008. People were invited to our St Erth HWRC and RTS to :-

  • see the plans
  • meet the experts
  • express their views; and
  • tour around a similiar facility.

Near to 35 people attended, 12 of which left feedback. Of those who left comments, 59% found out everything they needed to know.
