Liaison group members needed for CERC
The Site Liaison Group (SLG) for the Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre (CERC) is looking for up to five new members. The group meets monthly at Kingsley Village in the evening, for two hours to discuss issues, share information and provide feedback and constructive comments on the proposed CERC and to discuss other waste management operations in Cornwall.
Individuals, local residents and representatives of community organisations are welcome to apply to join the group. Members contribute to the group by feeding back information about the proposed energy-from-waste facility to their community and represented groups. Topics discussed at the meetings have included health, transport and architecture.
Rae Wallin, Independent Chair of the group said: ‘It is important that the group reflects all parts of the local community. We don’t want anybody to feel that they won’t be informed, just because they don’t belong to any clubs or organisations and even though there are only a few places to fill, everyone who applies will be kept in touch. We hope that a good cross section of people will join the liaison group, to represent all aspects of life in the area and discuss their issues with SITA Cornwall”
Organisations can nominate one representative each and they and others applying will be appointed on a first come first served basis.
Anyone interested in joining the group should contact the SITA Cornwall help desk on 08456 300300 or CornwallHelpdesk@sita.co.uk
