SITA Cornwall urges Cornish residents to take extra care when visiting recycling centres during cold period

SITA Cornwall is appealing to members of the public to be particularly careful when visiting Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) in the current icy conditions.

Phil Rudin, General Manager for SITA UK in Cornwall said, "The safety of people using our HWRCs in the county is a top priority for us at SITA Cornwall. Our staff have gritted areas that they can see are icy and are being extra vigilant to the needs of customers using the recycling facilities. We continue to do our best to keep the HWRCs open, where practical and safe."

He added, "Cornish residents are excellent at recycling, but we want to make certain that they do so safely and sensibly. We ask them to wear suitable footwear, be aware of other users and to ask for help rather than struggle with too many items.

All twelve HWRCs across the county are currently open (as at 11am on 8th January), but SITA Cornwall advises members of the public to check with the Helpdesk if they have any queries or concerns.
